When paired with 2 other Asula set pieces, you get an extra 5 AP and 5 DP, and a full set gives you 15 AP, 15 DP, and 10% movement speed on top of the individual piece stats. That means you don’t have to worry about hunting down rare, expensive accessories for your first few weeks of play. The only downside is that its stats don’t scale as well as higher-tier purple or yellow accessories, so you will eventually want to replace it once you hit endgame grinding spots. But for new players, it’s the best possible ring you can get without spending 10+ million silver on the central market.
How to Farm the Asula Crimson Eye Without Wasting Hours
You don’t have to grind for days to get your hands on this ring, even if you’re a brand new player with low AP. I’ve farmed this piece 11 times for my alts over the years, and these are the only three methods that are worth your time:
- Grind level 50-55 Catfishmen mobs in western Mediah for a 0.03% drop chance per kill, plus bonus drops of other Asula set pieces and Mediah loot that you can sell for extra silver
- Complete the weekly "Mediah Accessory Collection" quest from the Black Spirit, which rewards a random Asula piece with a 25% chance it’s the Crimson Eye, no grinding required
- Purchase it from the central market for under 5 million silver if you don’t want to grind, since it’s a common side drop for high-level players farming event currency in low-tier spots
Don’t grind for more than 2 hours straight if you don’t get a drop. The market is almost always stocked with these rings for less than the cost of the materials you’d use to grind for that long. If you’re playing on a season server, you can also get a free Asula Crimson Eye from the season pass when you hit level 52, so you don’t have to farm for it at all if you stick to season content first.
Best Ways to Enhance Your Asula Crimson Eye for Maximum Power
One of the best things about this ring is that it’s extremely easy to enhance, even if you have no experience with BDO’s enhancement system. It uses regular weapon black stones for upgrades up to +5, and it doesn’t lose durability if your enhancement fails at these levels, so you don’t have to waste valuable memory fragments on repairs.
Enhancing it to PRI (I) gives you an extra 3 AP and 2 DP, which makes it viable even up to level 61 for most PvE builds. To get to PRI safely, build up 12 to 15 failstacks by enhancing cheap green armor to +15 first, then use a concentrated weapon black stone for the PRI attempt. You’ll have a 72% chance of success, which is way higher than the success rate for most higher-tier accessories.
That said, I don’t recommend trying to enhance it past PRI. The success rate for DUO (II) drops to 45%, and if you fail, the ring will break completely. It’s not worth the risk, since you can save the silver and failstacks for higher-tier accessories that you’ll use for longer on your main character. I learned this the hard way on my first character, when I broke 3 PRI Asula Crimson Eyes trying to hit DUO for a tiny stat boost that didn’t even make a noticeable difference in my grind speed.
When Should You Replace Your Asula Crimson Eye With Higher-Tier Gear?
This ring will carry you a lot farther than most new players think, so you don’t have to rush to replace it as soon as you hit level 60. If you’re playing PvE, you can keep using it until you hit 245 AP and are ready to start grinding Elvia Calpheon or higher-end spots. If you’re focused on PvP, you may want to replace it a little earlier, once you hit 230 AP and start doing node wars or arena content.
The best replacement for most PvE builds is the Tungrad Ring, which gives 18 AP, 10 accuracy, and 3% critical hit damage, for a noticeable bump in clear speed for higher-tier mobs. For PvP, a Crescent Ring is a better pick, since it gives 15 AP and 7 DP to help you survive group fights. You can also swap to a Forest Ronaros Ring if you’re playing a squishy class that needs extra DP for grinding.
You don’t have to throw away your Asula Crimson Eye once you replace it, either. I still have my first one from 6 years ago, and I use it for every new alt I level. You can also use it as a failstack material when you’re enhancing higher-tier accessories, since it’s cheap and easy to replace if it breaks.
